Shooting studio 1

Today was our first time when we went to the shooting studio . Matt was telling us about all the different cameras that he's got .

There are some primary responsibilities :

1). Own and operate for shooting responsibilities

2). Operate video camera to capture moments or pictures

3). Ensure proper lighting is achieved

4). Travel to different locations depending on assignments

5). Take posed and candid shots

6). Provide edited versions of tapes

7). Assist with camera work for documentaries or independent film

8). Film elevision programs , commercials and music videos from a studio or a set in a fixed location

9). Thread the cameraand set the focus

10). Clean the camera

Now you can move your camera and all the other equipment around as needed and take all the promotional pictures and direct participants in shots .

Also ,  he explained that there is a difference between shooting outside and inside , because when you are shooting it is really obvious that the lighting doesnt look natural . 

Textual analysis of a film poster ''Valentine's day''

   

   We all know that the best symbol to describe love is a heart .For my textual analysis of a film poster I chose a film called  ''Valentine's day'' which is a romantic comedy . In general , Valentine's day is a time when people show feelings of love , affection and friendship to each other . For some people this day is more special then for others . So , looking at the poster we can assume that the film is going to be about love and this wonderful day when people can take their loved ones to a romantic dinner at a restaurant , give greeting cards , chocolates , flowers and just say how much they love each other .

      I would say that the composition of this photo is very unique , as we can see all the characters in one place . Every famous character in this film has been placed in the same sized square equally as we can notice that there are no women placed together . Men and women alternate with each other . It is very interesting as we can notice that they all might be couples , with only one exception , the lady on the bottom . She looks a bit lonely and it feels like she is looking at them from the bottom or someone might think differently and say that there are at least two men and women in the same row which may represent the gender equality and proximity between the male and femail . Another important point to consider is that all the characters are different age range , they are young and older , but one of the main things for this type of film is that they are all smiling . For me there is an immediate illustration and connotation of happiness and triumph in both life and of course , love .

      If we would talk about the colour of the poster then I would say that its evidently cruial to the theme of the film . Personally for me , the black background eludicates the negativities of love and how it can turn upside down , as we know that usually the colour which represents love is red or pink , but not black , also some people might have different connotative levels , so they might dissagre with my opinion . When we watch different cartoons we know that the men in black is always going to be signified to be an evil and the lady in pink is going to be the good one , so the same contrast of colours we see in this poster , but maybe they wanted all the characters to stand out on the poster so that's why they used such a dark colour .

      Additionally , the title of the film above signifies the innocence of love and how it can be accidental or unrequited or deeply true , but also it is very clear cut and stand out easily for the targeted demographics to read . The pink heart which in this case combines all the characters on the poster is an obvious connotation of love , passion and just completes the poster's intention of attracting audience . Over all the poster is very clear and not cramped and allows it to be easy read by the audience . Also , those people who have seen the movie ''Pretty woman'' might definitaly want to watch ''Valentine's day'' , as the director of these two films is the same .

     Another interesting fact to consider about the poster is that the names of the characters written above the heart are all in different colours . We can clearly differenciate them by gende , as all the femail's names are written in pink and all the male's names are written in blue . 
     If we would be talking about the age range audience , then I would say that this film is more for 16+ . ( I might be wrong as I haven't seen this film .) 

Tension in thriller

                               
Today Katie divided us into groups and gave us different thrillers from the previous years which we had to analyse .



        Tension - we can only hear the radio playing - so someone turned it on
                      -the sound of the opening door
                      - shade of the person coming into the room ( we can see that he is wearing a hat )
        The girl could be hiding as she is lying in the bed , drawing something , a teddy bear is next to her
        Room setting - dark , small , pictures on the walls , old books lying on the table
        Characters - the girl - young - teddy bear , innocent + when the man comes she gets really scared
                            the man - scary , dangerous
                            the second man whom we see at the very end could be a journalist who came in this room to find out what was going on a long time ago , but someone was waiting for him ( could be to "explain" that its not a good idea to try and find out what was going on a long time ago )
             So , so early we feel a strong impression on both of the characters .

Film review "Prisoners"

Prisoners
      One of my favourite movies I have recently watched is Prisoners . This film interested me by its title as well as by a small review written about it . I found dissapearance of two little girls really interesting and exiting , so decided to watch it . 
     The plot focuses on Keller Dovers daughter and her friend who go missing and both families call the police . Brother of one of the girls says that they saw an unknown car , parked on the street not far away from their house . The police find the car and the man inside who is mentally challenged . Keller tells the detective to keep him locked up so they can work on him . But he says that without more evidence they have to let him go . Keller doesnt want to wait and takes matters into his own hands as he is desperate to find his daughter and protect his family . He does everything what he only can to find out where his daughter is and that man who is mentally challenged becomes a prisoner , but is he mentally ill ? I find it very interesting when you dont know who is actually the evil in the film till the end . This made me want to watch this film till the very end .    
      When I started to watch it the first couple of minutes were very interesting but still you couldnt understand what really was going on . At first , you only see that the boy and his dad are in the forest and are about to shoot an animal . I found one very interesting thing that his dad was praying . It was quite unusual to hear because we know that usually people pray in church or at home but not when they are about to kill an animal . Was it his hobby or they had nothing to eat so thats why they had to kill no one really knows in the first two minutes but when you see their cloths you understand that they are not poor and live in a normal family .     
      The combination of music and praying was a good thing to do in a film like that . It really makes the audience think about the future of the film . In reference about the liting then I think that it was very appropriate to use dull lights because it created a certain mood and atmosphere in the film . A good contrast as snow and blood . Because  when they shooted an animal you started to understand that maybe this animal is not the last one who they are going to kill . The title was also very effective because they used black fone and capital white letters . Music was also effective and helpful to show what kind of genre this film is . 
      In geneal , I think that music play a very important part in the whole movie . If we start talking about the way that they used low shots and high shots makes us feel when we need to focus in the film and when we can have a minute of rest .
