Today we had a very interesting task which was to make a short video clip to a song . We were given three different areas (walls) where we could shoot our clip and we had to find three or more people to work with . One of us had to be a camera person and others had to dance and sing .
Lip sync is a short term for lip synchronisation and it is a technical term for matching lip movements with pre-recorded song or spoken vocals that the listeners hear through speakers in the case of a lip-synced TV show or film performance . The term can refer to any of a number of different techniques and processes in the context of live performances and recordings .
In film production, for example, lip synching is often a part of the post-production phase . Dubbing foreign-language films and making animated characters appear to speak both require elaborate lip-synching . Many video games make extensive use of lip-synced sound files to create an immersive environment . In the case of the music industry , lip-synced sound files to create an immersive environment . In the case of the music industry , lip-synching can be controversial to fans attending live concert performances who expect to view a live performance .
Also , there is a term such as a tie-in which is a sequence of numeric codes generated at regular intervals by a timing synchronisation system . So , for example in video production and filmmaking , timecode is used extensively for synchronisation and for logging and identifying material in recorded media . During filmmaking or video production shoot the camera assistant will typically log the start and end timecodes of the shots and the data generated will be sent to the editorial department for use in referencing those shots . This shot-logging process was traditionally done by hand using pen and paper but is now typically done using a shot-logging software running on a laptop computer that is connected to the time code generator or the camera itself .
During the whole hour when we were doing it , we had to swap with each other , so that everyone could have a chance to try out different things.
On the right, there is one of our sections where we were shooting .
Personally , I think it was a very useful activity for us to do , as it is very similar to the preliminary task which we had to do for our thriller . The differences between them were that for our thriller preliminary task we were given a list of the lines that we had to divide between two from our group of four and the other two had to be a director and a camera person . I would say that that task had really helped us before we started filming the actual thriller and we got some essential skills that we needed to know in terms of angles . We were following all the rules such are shot reverse shot and 180-degree rule . All of that rules had really helped us before and so I think that doing this Lip Sync Task will really give us a chance to get an idea of how to shoot a music video clip .
